Are you looking for a career in which you can truly make a difference in the lives of others?
If so, the Emergency Medical Technology - Basic (EMT-B) program, now available through RGV College, is a great place to start!
You'll be trained to assist people as an EMT in their most critical time of need.
Our EMT-B program provides the skills, knowledge, and training needed to thrive in the healthcare field.
As a student enrolled in our EMT-B program, your training will include a brief overview of the human body, techniques as defined in airway and pulmonary resuscitation for adults and special populations, communication using various methods and proper documentation, use of terminology and medical abbreviations as they relate to the EMT-Basic, evaluating the scene for potential hazards, recognizing the signs and symptoms of allergic reactions, summarizing signs of medical/behavioral emergencies, traumatic injuries to the spine and head, learning the pre-hospital environment, and transferring patients with life-threatening illness.
The EMT-B program is a 12-week program. Graduates will receive a certificate of completion for Emergency Medical Technology Program-Basic from Rio Grande Valley College. Students must then pass the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technology Examination prior to registration as an Emergency Medical Technology-Basic.
